Misty Mountain Top is a culmination of childhood influence, life experience, love, marriage and a personal commitment to returning sound values and customer service to the consumer public.

Growing up in rural Louisville Kentucky having our own cows, chickens and a big garden to provide for most of our daily needs was just everyday life for me as a child. It seems somehow that way of life has taken on a stigma; you don't have to be weird to grow your own vegetables, raise your own meat and eggs or want to have other natural products.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Kentucky , the wisdom of my dad influenced me to go into a field where I could pay the bills, but still use my creativity, I went into Graphic Design and worked for USA Image Technologies of Louisville until I met my husband and moved to Berea .

Moving closer to eastern part of the state brought on a change in water supply; the high mineral content in our water combined with chloramines began to wreak havoc on my skin and hair. After trying just about every commercial bar of soap to remedy this, I once again took a page from my history and turned to Castille soap.

With my love of horses came this realization, before the advent of big supply stores and bottles of special cleaners and coat conditioners horse people would brush down their horses and wash them with Castille soap.

The thing about Castille soap is it cleans without stripping you of your natural sebum; unlike most commercial products that are just detergent in bar form. Once again we come to a cross road; even age old makers of Castille had long turned to using filler oils such as coconut and palm to cut costs. So I immersed myself in the history of soap making and created the first bars of Mountain Castille. With my husband and me as test subjects these bars were an instant success and were distributed amongst friends and family.

Well everything has to start somewhere; with the urging of family and friends I decided to share my soaps with the public. I began offering my soaps at the Madison County Farmers Market and as time progressed I was invited to a few local craft shows and holiday festivals.

When it became clear that there was a definitive interest in the Castille soap I decided to expand to lotion and Dead Sea salts, then body butter, and sugar scrubs. Today we are very fortunate to be able to offer over eighty all natural products; all from the humble beginnings of a few bars of Castille soap.

We believe in keeping things simple; have you ever looked at the ingredients on the back of a simple product and wondered what half of the things in there are? Although we have found that we need to protect certain combinations of our ingredients from prying eyes our first commitment to you is not adding anything more to our products then is required to do the job. You will not find any unnecessary ingredients in any of our products; each is added for the maximum benefit to you per each application. From the hemp oil in our solid lotion bar to our choice of essential oils in the soaps; we do not use dyes, colorants, fillers, or chemical equivalents to save money or make things appear to be something tat they are not.
